I'm Gaming Jay and welcome to GAMES YOU NEVER PLAYED, the gaming series where we play unreleased alphas, incomplete betas, rediscovered prototypes, and other games that are otherwise obscure, rare, or unheard of. And with that, today's game is...
Dreamworld Pogie
from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aladdin_Deck_Enhancer
A previously unreleased NES game by The Oliver Twins which was successfully published on cartridge at last over 20 years later thanks to a Kickstarter campaign.
Dreamworld Pogie was originally meant to be released on the Aladdin Deck Enhancer. The Aladdin Deck Enhancer is a system-enhancing adaptor to use Compact Cartridges on the Nintendo Entertainment System. It was produced by Camerica and developed by Codemasters but not licensed by Nintendo. It is similar to the Datach system for the Famicom, but without the Barcode feature. It was released in November 1992, with its planned library to reach a total 24 games by the end of 1993.[1] However, only seven games were actually released. Dreamworld Pogie was not one of the released games. Dreamworld Pogie, a spin-off starring Dizzy's pet, Pogie, was going to be a scrolling platform inspired by Super Mario, but it was cancelled.
Dreamworld Pogie remained unreleased until 2011 when an alpha build was somehow leaked online. An official release of the game finally occurred in 2017, following a successful Kickstarter campaign from the original creators.
