It is prerelease weekend! Another new plane and new planeswalkers, new fantasy themed cards based on fairy tales and the Grimm stories yet no Disney in sight. What a wonderful day. Magic: The Gathering is hitting full gear once again with a huge new product line with this release including the collector booster packs, alternate fabled art bordered cards, the adventure mechanic, adamant mechanic and food artifact tokens!

If you have never been to a Magic The Gathering prerelease before, it is an event held approximately one week before the release of a new MTG set where players receive a foil date stamped card, a life counter, 6 booster packs from the new set and a chance to build a deck in your local game store and use it to the compete against other people. It is a chance to experiment with the different mechanics, get a flavour for some of the cards and experience the set at it freshest.

If you love fairy tale lore, dark mermaids, witches and kings, this set is right up your alley. Like a Game of Thrones derivative, this set excels in introducing new game mechanics that don't interfere with the plethora of current decks out there but rather to provide players with more options for deck building. Mono coloured decks get the spotlight in this deck with triple mono coloured legendary creatures as well as being enhanced by the adamant mechanic.

So get your gingerbread in the oven, take a walk through the darker side of the forest and maybe you will find your charming prince or happily ever after in this set.
