Today's Critical Thought is going to be one of many on difficulty. For this one, I focused on the balancing act of difficulty settings. Why easy may be too easy or hard is too hard.

Getting the balance right requires understanding the baseline of your game and building your challenge around it. I also talked about cases where difficulty doesn't feel right, such as One Down mode in Payday 2 at the moment.

Making something harder doesn't always make it more challenging, and I talked about how some games have done different difficulty settings right.
