Hello everyone! The Steam Next Fest is over, but I still have a few gameplays of demos to share with you, this one is called Gedda Cake, a metroidvania with a really cute pixel art, but in hard difficulty (I mean, Wedding Cake difficulty) is tough.
There are quite a few interesting mechanics here. You can change between different characters (2 in the demo and I think 7 in the main game), each one with an element, and each element with strength and weakness, so you have to be careful to pick the appropiate element during fights and platforming. There is also a day/night mechanic that can put some enemies to sleep (even minibosses), which makes the game really interesting, but it makes me wonder how strong the impact will be in the game.
The things I didn't like about the game is that the overall movements feels like if the developers where trying to make it harder than how it should be. For example, there a few times where you have to fight or avoid enemies in small platforms, with spikes below, there is contact damage with enemies and the character moves by default while attacking, making it really hard to avoid damage. Also, the speed of the jump feels awkward, it starts slow, then speeds up in the middle (or maybe there is just some lag input at the start of the jump). The pushback of using the projectile midair is understandable but for me it felt like it was too much, like if the only purpose was trying to make you fall onto traps.

You can wishlist Gedda Cake on steam https://store.steampowered.com/app/1785630/Gedda_Cake/

I hope you enjoy it and don't forget to follow me on twitch for more live content https://www.twitch.tv/black_stark2
