In the PSP version of Final Fantasy, there is a comically stupid and game-breakingly powerful glitch you can exploit at the very beginning of the game to obtain very powerful weapons and armor. AND you can use this glitch to equip some powerful armor in non-armor equipment slots.

The first step is to go to the Configuration menu and set your Cursor to the Memory setting.

Now in this example, I purchased a Hammer for my White Mage from the weapons shop in Corneria. Then, I opened my equipment screen and equipped the Hammer to my White Mage, then removed the Hammer from the White Mage, and the Clothes from my Black Mage. Note that I set my Formation so that my White Mage was adjacent to my Black Mage in my character order.

The important detail here is that when I used the L and R buttons to change between characters on my Equipment menu, the cursor would highlight my White Mage's Weapon slot and my Black Mage's Armor slot. So then, I went to equip a weapon on my White Mage, but when I highlighted the White Mage's weapon with my cursor, I would press X and R at the same time, which would cause the game to turn the Hammer into a Knight's Armor for my Black Mage, which I was able to equip on his Armor slot. As a matter of fact, performing this glitch will allow you to equip the Knight's Armor in any non-weapon equipment slot for any character. So in other words, I was able to equip a Knight's Armor in my Black Mage's Shield, Helmet, Armor, and Gloves equipment slot, giving him 136 defense at the very beginning of the game.

This glitch can be performed on a variety of different items for varying results, but one of the best items to use this glitch on is the Leather Cap which can be found very early in the Temple of Fiends.

In this example, I set up my cursor so that it would highlight my Thief's Helmet slot and an adjacent character's Weapon slot. Then I went to equip a Helmet on my Thief and pressed X and R at the same time, and that Leather Cap would yield a Judgement Staff for the adjacent character. So essentially once I got the Leather Cap, I used this glitch to give all four of my LIGHT WARRIORS a Judgement Staff, which is a late game item that can cast Flare in battle.

Note that the input can be X and R at the same time or X and L at the same time, depending on how your characters are ordered in your party.
