In the original Breath of Fire for the SNES, there are multiple codes you can enter at the beginning of the game to start at different locations with different experience levels and items, and they are all VERY COOL okay??

First what you will need to do is select New Game on the file select screen. On the second controller, hold down Y, A, L and R. While holding these buttons, press the following inputs on the first controller: Up four times, Right twice, Down eight times, and Left once. It's kind of hard to do with only two hands, but if you did it right, the screen will turn red. From here, the results of the code depends on what you name your protagonist.

So again, the screen needs to be red here, but if you enter RYU in all capitals as the character's name (which happens to be his canonical name anyway) you will begin the game at Level 8 and Nina will have just joined your party.

The name CHUN as in Chun Li will start you right after the Stone Robot portion of the game.

Entering VEGA on the red screen will start you at the Gobi part of the plot. I'm not really familiar with the game since it's been ages, but I think it's after your boat explodes or something?

The name DeeJ with lower-case e's will place you right in front of Scande. You will have the Pass and Nina can fly.

I didn't show this one, but the name KEN will start you at level 24 near Gust.

Lastly, and I didn't mention this one in the video, but the name Fei (as in Fei Long) will create a save file that will restart your game and disable your controls. A wild glitch??

Note that all of these name codes are case sensitive.
