Pirates, assassins, templars and the open sea. Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag follows Captain Edward Kenway, a pirate turned assassin, who deep down, is really just a man who wants a taste of the good life and I don’t blame him, life can really suck sometimes, especially when all you wanted was some money and rum and now everyone’s getting mad at you and blaming you for everything that goes wrong, so gotta redeem yourself and save the world. You know, an average day for us gamers.

But before we get into the rest of the story, let’s start with some of the things I didn’t like:
The modern day story, trailing missions And the copy and paste side missions.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, I hate trailing missions, in any game, I’m just not a fan. Even when their supposed to fun and you gotta stay hidden, for me, it just ends up more frustrating than anything.

The copy and paste side missions, you know all 3 or 4 of them that they just scattered all over the map, I did do a few them but after a few hours in, I just didn’t even bother.

Last but not least, the modern day story. I was really curious to see how they would continue with the modern day story after Assassin’s Creed 3. You know, the world was supposed to end and stuff… I was actually really disappointed with it from the beginning, I thought it was so boring and actually wanted to skip them entirely and the way they kept pulling me out of Edward’s story only made me dislike it more. They tried to make it fun with this… but it just made it worse and I absolutely hated these puzzles… moving on!

With all that being said, Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag was definitely a one of kind experience for me, with some badass characters, really good voice acting, a good story and even better music, it’s not often that a soundtrack or a few songs from video games make it on to my playlist, but there was just something relaxing about these ones.

Not that it matters so much, but I’m gonna give Assassin’s Creed Black Flag a 7 out 10, the modern day story and trailing missions really set this one back for me but Edward’s story was pretty great, with twists and turns and to the very end and if you almost missed this one like I did, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. It did take me longer than expected to get use to the battles with ships, there was a few times it was actually really frustrating but once you do a few upgrades and a get a few battles under your belt, it’s a lot of fun and I didn’t think that pirates and parkour was gonna mix very well but I was wrong, it looked and felt pretty badass… not all the time but, that just pretty much comes with the Assassin’s Creed games and after all, it’s not everyday you to get to live the life of a rum drinking, treasure seeking, ship sailing pirate turned assassin. Captain Edward Kenway and this game reminded me of one of my favorite poems… “a life well lived is a precious gift, of hope and strength and grace, from someone who has made our world a brighter, better place.”

I didn’t want to spoil too much with this one, but let’s just say that ending actually had me holding back a few tears and if you know, you know… but… for now. End of Season 4. Season 5 coming soon!
