A Highland Song is a charming platformer. It's also somewhat frustrating on the navigation side of things. You can't zoom out far enough at times to figure out which side you should be headed to find the path you need to take next. There are maps you can find that help, but aren't quite necessary in all cases if you find a cairn or similar paths. There are a lot of side quests you can take that give you more reason to explore as well..
Graphically the game looks quite nice, you might even say it's beautiful in its depiction of this particular part of the world. The character animations are equally nice, with a very distinct style to them. The music is nice, and overall the game's very chill.
The musical rhythm portion of the game is enjoyable, but it often feels as if it is simply a part of the game designed to take you through what might have otherwise been a boring stroll through the hills. By that I mean the areas this happens are typically through long stretches of fairly even ground that won't have the same jumps and climbs as other locations.
I recommend it, especially for anyone looking to play a charming and relaxing platformer.
