A Less Brutally Hard, Indie take on Wizard of Legend 1? – Chaos Caster Demo –
Chaos Caster is an Indie, Action RPG Roguelike Dungeon Crawler offering a more approachable take on a sort of Wizard of Legend 1 like.
A Wizard of Legend 1 like?
Sort of
There are many differences, but it’s the closest thing.
Right at the start, like in Wizard of Legend 1, in Chaos Caster, you can customize your spell load-out; good!
Unlike Wizard of Legend 1, which does provide a lot of spell customization, but makes you unlock most of your spells via meta progression, Chaos Caster currently provides a total of 8 minor cantrip spells you can pick, right at the start, along with a total of 20 current spells.
Nice.
Chaos Caster also has the spell slinging, elemental combat similar to Wizard of Legend, packing both the fast casting cantrip, and the slower casting 3 other spells, along with certain elements having a different focus and chance of applying different effects and debuffs.
Unlike Wizard of Legend, in Chaos Caster, your non cantrip spells use mana, so using your spells as often as possible to keep them on cooldown is less of an issue here, incentivizing play that is not all about reflexes and hot-bar rotations.
The Random Dungeons made with Procedural Generation are in as well, but the tons of pits and spike traps are not; thankfully!
Also like Wizard of Legend 1, Chaos Caster has powerful relics to find that can change how the run feels, but unlike it, it also has consumables that are not relics, items you can use for shielding, healing, or other temporary buffs.
Chaos Caster Has Skills!
Unlike Wizard of Legend 1, in Chaos Caster, you can level up your character skills in addition to their spells, choosing to specialize in a certain element, or spreading your skill points around for more hp, faster dashes, or better luck and drops.
Also, you’re spells lvl up and become more powerful here as well, I do not remember that happening in Wizard of Legend 1 outside some relic boosts.
Controller Support is present and good, as is good old Mouse and Keyboard control.
I went mainly with the gamepad here, as it just felt better.
Note: This is the early demo version of Chaos Caster, and thus any encountered bugs or other oddness is not representative of the final product.
Still, Chaos Caster is an Indie, Action RPG Roguelike Dungeon Crawler offering a more approachable take on a sort of Wizard of Legend 1 like, and is easily worth a wishlist and a watch.
