A Turn Based, 1st Person Dungeon Crawler?! Oh Ya! – Ricave Demo –
21Ricave is an Indie, First Person, Grid based Dungeon Crawler Roguelite that is Turn Based!
Normally, the dungeon crawlers are either real time, like in Ultima Underworld, Daggerfall, Arx Fatalis, Barony, or Slasher's Keep, or they go the very modal Wizardry way, of having the combats break off into a classic Dragon Quest / Final Fantasy like window, where they take place in a seemingly alternate reality to the main game.
In Ricave, none of that is the case!
In fact, the closest thing to Ricave is a 3D take on WazHack!
Oh ya!
A 3D WazHack like?
Yes!
As just like in the excellent WazHack, time only moves when you do in Ricave!
So, that means you are not rushed, as can often happen in real time dungeon crawlers, leading to a mistake, or a real time reflex failure; in Ricave, that is much less likely!
Also, just like in WazHack, if you do not eat, you will become weaker over time, and gradually lose hp, adding cost to every action the player takes.
The identification game is in as well, though Ricave is a bit kinder than WazHack here, as here, you are told the potions and scrolls are 1 of 3 possible things, as opposed to having to puzzle it out on your own!
Additionally, cursed items are present, making the choice to equip a new weapon a more interesting decision, as it might just glue itself to your hand!
Better track down that remove curse scroll!
Ricave Has Random Dungeons!
Like Wazhack, the dungeons of Ricave are born of Procedural Generation, providing interesting Random Dungeons where you never know exactly where the goodies are, and where the enemies and traps are lurking.
This means each run should feel more different, as the random dungeons ensure you never know exactly what will be behind the corner, or in each room.
Exciting!
Especially for explorers!

Still, Ricave is an Indie, First Person, Grid based Dungeon Crawler Turn Based Roguelite that is offering a fun take on a 3D WazHack like.
