A point and click for the modern crowd:Dead Tomb-Chichuki Views
It's that time again for another great episode of Chichuki Views. This time around, we're checking out Dead Tomb on the Nintendo Switch. This is an old school point and click journey made for a modern audience. Back at the peak of point and click games like Dead Tomb, I was too young to understand what was going on and what you were trying to do in these types of games. That being said, during the playthrough, it took me a little bit to figure out the concept. However, once I figured out what the game wanted from me, I was solving puzzles quickly. I also felt it necessary to use all my resources and commands on everything I could just so I wouldn't miss anything. For example, you'll find yourself using "Take" and "Use" on bottles of medicine. You don't want to drink it but the take action is more on the line of ingest or take a drink. I thought it meant bring the bottle with you. If I was more into point and click games growing up, I don't think I would have made that mistake so often. Also the soundtrack for the game is a banger and will make the toughness of puzzle solving easier to deal with.
Dead Tomb is a fun and challenging game. When you solve a puzzle you have that feeling of accomplishment that classic game players had when they would play a game for the first time and solve a tough riddle or puzzle. At times I found myself interacting with the same item in a room because I thought I was looking at something else. Being able to transport to any room you've already been to would have been a nice touch but Dead Tomb is going for that retro nostalgia so that doesn't hurt things very much. The folks at 8 Bit Legit really have a knack of bringing that retro feel to the modern audience and Dead Tomb is no exception.
