The toughest Metroidvania I've played? Emberbane Steam Next Fest demo
1Another day, another hands on impression video from Steam Next Fest Demos. This time, we're checking out Emberbane, a Metroidvania that is tough as nails and could be one of the toughest metroidvanias I've ever played. You'll be relying on tight controls, picture perfect platforming, and mastering the perfect combo at just the right time. Guide Ophelia through dangerous locations, defeating monsters and bosses along the way. Discover different elemental powers and attacks as you make your way through.
That being said, you will have to be on guard because enemies attack hard, fast and won't hesitate to kill you. You'll also have to figure out how to traverse areas that have switches to hit but the answer won't be so easy. There are times where you think you're going the wrong way but stick with it. There might be a special power up the way you were going and you will need to find everything to help out in your journey. Emberbane is a tough game but it doesn't feel cheap. There are games that kill you alot that feel unfair but that isn't the case. Solving a tough puzzle or killing a challenging group of enemies gives off that feeling of accomplishment. Old school gamers that want a challenge that doesn't lead you along will be in heaven with Emberbane.
