The featured craft in this video is a mashup of all the cool aviation stuff I read in the first bit of 2015. It has intermeshing rotors from a Kaman K-MAX synchropter, rotor-tip turbojets like a Focke-Wulf Triebflügel, and wings from the Mi-24 Hind. Oh and it has two additional jets for forward thrust, like the iconic AIRWOLF!
In the interest of simplicity, I didn't re-create Airwolf's rotating missile launcher turret, although such would be possible using Infernal Robotics parts. I wanted to keep the craft simple and part count low. Most of the parts are internal bracing and reinforcements to the rotor systems.
She has a maximum safe takeoff weight of 11 tons, any more and this rotor system may come apart at the docking washer under the rotors, which can't be further reinforced!
This craft uses the following mods:
B9 Aerospace and Procedural Wings - fuselage and airfoils
HullCamVDS - Cameras to monitor rotor performance, that you can display on B9's cockpit MFDs
Infernal Robotics - docking washers to allow free-spinning rotors
Ven's Stock Part revamp - nicer looking turbojets
Sounding Rockets - missiles and bombs
Ferram Aerospace Research - If you set the rotor flaps to action groups for raising and lowering flaps, you get some collective control! FAR is highly recommended for operating this craft as the flaps serve important roles to safe aircraft control.
