This tilt-motorjet VTOL aircraft is certainly inspired by the AugustaWestland AW609 tilt rotor, but with the distinction of being powered by piston engines turning compressors for jet engines mounted behind them. This motor-jet setup is extremely rare but used on some post WW2 Russian fighter aircraft.

I was a bit saddened to hear that my childhood heroes, tilt rotor aircraft, aren't as agile as depicted in Dale Brown's novels "Hammerheads" and "Air Battle Force" - the V-22 Osprey is forbidden from performing both aerobatics and evasive maneuvers in combat.

Thus, I dusted off one of my old VTOL prototypes, modified it slightly and proceeded to see how far I can push the flight envelope. With the ability to pull 12Gs and defy the laws of physics with thrust vectoring, this aircraft would be as formidable as Dale Brown's "Air Battle Force" tilt-jet tactical transports indeed! They flew rings around enemy fighter aircraft.
