Hello Sweets!

Welcome to the first video for our AAPI Appreciation Month! Today we're starting with Before I Forget, a game developed by 3-Fold Games in 2020. This game follows an older Woman from India who has Dementia and is trying to regain her lost memories. The game starts out by asking you to find Dylan, a non-descript male character in her life whom she is attached to that seems to have all of her answers. As you continue to play through the game, you learn more and more about Sonita's life, who Dylan is, and why she is looking for him. It becomes abundantly clear fairly quickly that she is suffering from dementia and has lost many of her memories of both Dylan and her life after she developed it.

This is such a wonderful game that can be completed in ~1 hour and shows Sonita's life as it were you as Sonita. It's both heartwarming and very moving, as well as very sad and unfortunate. It's truly one of the best games I have seen that shows this type of dilemma. It also showcases many beautiful Indian art pieces including some work inspired by the famous Indian artist, Amrita Sher-Gil, well known for her paintings of Indian women just being themselves (See link below). This game also talks a lot about the Indian Gods and how they came to be and their stories as Sonita and her Leela Auntie navigate the stars. It's truly a masterpiece of Indian culture as well as the struggles of dementia. A truly brilliant game!

I hope this sheds light onto my fellow AAPI this month and especially my Native Indian and American Indian friends (Not Native American, very different, yet wonderful peoples! Also VERY DESEARVING of their own videos so please check back in November when they get their month! ❤)
