Abyssal Sanae's only fixed behavior is to use a combination of "Power of the Living God" followed by "Youkai Buster" every time you've depleted about 20% of her HP. Power of the Living God deals mild SPI damage and inflicts PAR and HVY on the front row, while Youkai Buster is a SPI group targeting attack that (according to her character page) does about 20% more damage to Youkai type characters.

Abyssal Sanae uses this four times total, and after the first two uses of Youkai Buster, it gets upgraded to "Super Youkai Buster". Despite its name, it actually does extra damage to all non-human characters. There's no way to tell what species each player character is counted as, but I did look at the Wiki, which has info for the Shadow + Heavenly versions of the playable characters and extrapolated from there. These characters are consistently "Human" species:

Reimu, Marisa, Rinnosuke, Keine, Youmu, Kogasa, Rumia, Cirno, Kaguya, Mokou, Satori, Alice Patchouli, Eirin, Reisen, Sanae, Sakuya, Tenshi, Byakuren, Renko, Maribel, Futo, Miko, Koishi and Akyuu.

(Iku's Heavenly version is also listed as "Human" but not her Shadow version. There's no info on her Abyss version on the Wiki, and I can't look it up on my file since I haven't fought her yet. So Idk what's going on there...)

Some of these make sense (Reimu, Marisa, Sanae, Akyuu, Renko and Maribel). Others are surprising (like the the Eientei + Mokou, Tenshi, Iku and Byakuren). The rest are actually mixed with Youkai (so Rinnosuke, Keine, Kogasa, Rumia, Cirno, Satori and Koishi are both Human AND Youkai) and I'm not sure how Youkai Buster would factor in these mixed species characters (i.e. if it ignores the Human listing in favor of Youkai, if it ignores the Youkai listing in favor of Human, if mixed race characters only get half the damage boost etc.)

I'm getting WAY ahead of myself here though. Despite her gimmick, I actually struggled the most with Abyssal Sanae's normal phase, because Abyssal Sanae is my least favorite type of boss (aka the type that throws out moves of varying power completely at random). Here is what's in Abyssal Sanae's arsenal:

-Destroy Magic (self-explanatory, mostly targeted at Slots 1 and 2, but with bad enough luck, it'll hit Slot 3 too)
-Generic MAG Attack (it's generic Attack but MYS element instead of PHYS)
-Light Arrow (single target SPI spell)
-Storm of Light Particles (group target SPI spell)

She also has three of her four personal spellcards:

-Miracle Fruit (self-buff to all stats)
-Night of Bright Guest Stars (group targeting SPI attack. Has the same animation as Youkai Buster. If the playable version is any indication, this move CANNOT be dodged)
-Moses' Miracle (CLD-affinity row attack. Has a +20 to ACC)

Her personal spellcards were a menace to my party. Night of Bright Stars is obvious since it can't be dodged but Moses Miracle hit ridiculously hard too though. The formula is something like "200% of Sanae's MAG vs only 60% of your character's MND stat". Her MAG stat must be stupid high because I couldn't figure out how to reduce the damage (and so help your party if she's used it right after buffing herself with Miracle Fruit).

Abyssal Sanae has strong resistance to all ailments. She has high resistance to WND and SPI, she has some resistance to NTR, is neutral to FIR and PHYS, is somewhat weak to CLD and MYS, and is VERY weak to DRK. Abyssal Sanae seems to have more MND than DEF, so physical DRK attackers will perform well here (though characters reliant on status effects like TRR will probably need Reisen's ailment piercing skills)

While I'm sure there are uber-defensive parties that can coast through this fight, my specific party had to settle for bum-rushing Sanae because of the lack of consistency with Sanae'as AI. Sometimes she'd go easy on and use Storm of Light Particles four times in a row, other times she'd open with Destroy Magic on Ran, buff herself and then go straight into Moses Miracle. Again, this boss can be really easy or really hard depending on your luck + party

I went with Futo because she's a physical DRK attacker (and she benefits from Miko, who is a permanent fixture in my party). I threw Oracle Mystia in there too. She was mostly here to remove Sanae's buffs via Miracle Fruit, but with Power of the Living God in Sanae's arsenal, Mystia could also be used to remove SIL (she can also use it to remove the other effects, but that requires good RNG).

Kanako and Suwako unfortunately had to take the back seat for this fight. I gave Kanako Healer, just in case Emergency Recovery came in handy (it didn't). Suwako could do a little bit more with Ninja's generic, DRK skill but as you can see, this was mostly Marisa and Futo's fight.
