Abyssal Kanako (Labyrinth of Touhou 2 Plus Disk)
Abyssal Kanako is about as simple as the previous two bosses, but don't confuse simplicity with ease here. Though she shares Abyssal Remilia's Majesty gimmick, Kanako is far more versatile with her attacks; she is capable of hitting four separate affinities (SPI, PHYS, CLD and WND) and targeting either DEF or MND. Aside from Majesty and Desperation (a skill she will use at 25% that sets her ATB to 9000 and grants her a permanent 25% buff to all stats), Abyssal Kanako will otherwise use her four personal spellcards at random.
-Mad Dance is a single target, SPI spell that targets DEF and can inflict HVY. It mostly targets Slot 1 and 2, but can occasionally hit Slot 3. It's not a dangerous attack by itself but the HVY effect can be inconvenient. The low delay (5600) can be troublesome, especially if Kanako spams it several times in a row, since the lower delay means your debuffer or buff remover has a shorter window to counteract the effects of Majesty.
-Beautiful Spring Like Suiga is a single target, CLD spell that can occasionally debuff your ATK and MAG. It mostly targets Slots 1 and 2, but I can't promise Slot 3 is safe from it. Despite being described as "the closest thing to a CLD nuke in LOT2" by some fans, this attack isn't too dangerous with enough HP and CLD affinity. This sets Kanako's ATB to 4800.
-Misayama Hunting Ritual is a group targeting PHYS attack that targets DEF and has +30 to ACC. Due to the accuracy bonus, tanking the attack is the best way to reliably survive it. While that's not necessarily hard for your dedicated tanks, it can be troublesome for your frailer characters (especially since Kanako has no set pattern and will use this at random). As annoying as this attack is, Hunting Ritual sets Kanako's ATB to 4000.
-Virtue of Wind God is a group targeting WND attack. It has no special effects BUT it is arguably Kanako's hardest hitting spell. Virtue of Wind God sets Kanako's ATB all the way to 3000.
You've probably noticed that I've listed the ATB's here. Because of Kanako's random behavior, I think the best way to approach this fight is to build up your defenses while keeping Kanako's buffs in check and then to basically wait for an opening (like Hunting Ritual or Virtue of Wind God) to switch in your attackers. If you haven't already got a dedicated buff remover (Miko, Tenshi or an Oracle character) now's the time to get one.
Anyway, Kanako is very resistant to PAR and HVY and somewhat resistant to SIL and TRR, but is neutral to PSN and HVY and weak to debuffs. SIL is hard to land but effective when it does, since all of Kanako's attacks (even the DEF-targeting ones) rely on her MAG. Kanako is strongly resistant to WND and somewhat resistant to SPI. Otherwise, she is neutral to PHYS and MYS, weak to FIR and CLD, and VERY weak (to NTR). Despite what you'd expect, Kanako's DEF is rated higher than her MND, but don't assume that to mean she's weak to MND. It just means she's very bulky.
Strategy
-Slot 1 and 2 should have reasonably good CLD and SPI resistance (maybe Slot 3 too). Slots 3 and 4 should have WND and PHYS resistance. If your attackers can't manage that or are too frail, they shouldn't be on the frontlines at all when Kanako gets her turn. The good news is that Kanako doesn't use ailments (except HVY) so it's easy to focus your equips on boosting HP + affinity
-Slot 1 was for revolving tanky supports (Kasen, Ran, Eirin). Miko was necessary in Slot 2 since only she could counteract Majesty.
-I went with Oracle Aya. At this point, I don't use Aya much (she's only in most Abyssal fights because I refuse to deal with random encounters while exploring the Corridor) so I figured why not. I didn't read how Oracle's buff stealing works, I probably would have used the generic buff removal skill (instead of trying to spam Aya's SPD-buffing ATK) if I'd known it only steals 1/5 of all buffs
-I had to put a LOT of Kanako's level up bonuses into HP just so she could (barely survive one hit of) Kanako's AOE's.
-I don't know if it's an actual behavior of hers or really good RNG, but I don't think I ever saw Kanako use her AOE's back to back. I certainly never saw her use Hunting Ritual twice in a row, though I also didn't do too many practice runs of this fight.
