Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies - Episode 34: Red Flags and Drugged Fish
In today's episode of the "Dual Destinies" playthrough, we start to become suspicious of Marlon, prompting him to be brought to the stand to testify.
One thing that I've always found odd is that Simon's usually quick to point out the flaws in the defense's argument whenever they propose a new theory, yet when Phoenix argues that Marlon was the one who drugged Orla, he has no objections. Sure, Marlon was seen feeding Orla the previous day during the trial, but unlike Sasha, who only gave her a single fish, he was just tossing a bunch of fish haphazardly, with a good chunk of them landing outside of the pool. As such, unless Marlon had spent a substantial amount of time before hand stuffing each and every one of those fish with a sleeping pill or was relying purely on luck, Simon could have argued that he would have been more calculated with his fish throws if he wanted his plan to succeed- especially since Marlon would know that there was a chance that Riffle could have rushed onto the scene and consumed the drugged fish before he could get it off of the ground and give it to Orla.
Though to be fair, Marlon's not really doing himself any favors with his testimony. Sure, Marlon's trying to come off as being our friend by giving testimony that only helps Sasha, but it kind of raises some red flags when he mentions that Orla should pay for her consequences, as if she was planning this whole case from the shadows. I mean, that would be like if Acro testified that Regina deserved to suffer during "Turnabout Big Top".
