Ace Combat 7, PSVR, PS4 Pro, Dualshock 4 Controller, VR Mission 1 complete
If I had any main complaint about this game, it's that the dogfighting situations only have 3 versions. Either the target flies dumbly in front of you allowing itself to get shot down, you're flying too fast so the target zips past you like a hornet, or something gets behind you and fires a missile at you.
The visual thrill of this video might say things differently, but in the VR headset with the control of the craft at my fingertips, the game really doesn't give the feedback that I was hoping for. The action doesn't feel organic.
I understand that when objects are moving quickly, you have to be careful how you design a game to make sure it's playable and not too frustrating, but the targets I'm chasing could at least take me on a ride of some sort. After playing games like XWing and TIE Fighter years ago, I was hoping to get at least some sort of equatable thrill here. Sadly, no. A little more action and dramatic movement from targets, at least to challenge my ability to keep them acquired, maybe even the occasional shaking me off, would have gone a long way for extra immersion. Granted, I'm playing on Normal. Maybe I should play on a harder difficulty to see what happens.
I also find it find of weird that the enemy radio chatter has the same tone and mannerisms as my side.
