Adachi & Shimamura - Sofia (AMV)
74A comment on my Bloom Into You AMV recommended this series a few months back- so being a die hard fan for same-sex romance stories, I decided to check it out. Again, late for the party-- but you know what? This is my new favorite yuri anime now. I absolutely adore the writing of both characters: Shimamura’s fear of commitment to relationships and Adachi’s struggles of expressing her emotions hits wayyy too hard lol. Sometimes I swear Adachi’s clinginess is a complete reflection of how I act with most of my best friends xDD. This show did an amazing job portraying it that it’s actually kind of scary and uncanny: It’s not just mere jealousy - but also the feeling of being inferior to others, and also the fear of not being able to connect with everyone (thus causing you to also feel sidelined by your best friend/crush). Idk if that makes sense, but to all the introverts out there - I’m sure this underlying pressure is something you find yourself familiar with :)
I’m quite amazed by the character development of this anime, tbh. Adachi and Shimamura are girls that I could find myself relate to and care for. They’re just so interesting to watch, their train of thoughts and monologue are interesting, priceless, and sometimes quite heartbreaking, too. Plus, their dynamic is so well-built and sweet that it gives me cavities. Adachi just really loved being spoiled by Shimamura--and honestly, who doesn’t? She’s mad cute (her appearance reminds me of a certain VTuber called Watame actually, with those purple eyes and fair blond hair haha).
Anyway, Can’t wait for season 2! I often wondered how is it that this show and Bloom Into You didn’t get as much recognition as Citrus? (which, like I said before, isn’t even that good. I hate the toxicity of that entire relationship, ngl. Yuzu is alright, but Mei seriously needs help). When will it be the time that people finally embrace and give rightful attention to COMPLEX and WHOLESOME yuri characters? This is frustrating me more than it should for crying out loud xD. I guess I’mma go calm myself down by saving pictures of Shimamura and Adachi being cute on Pinterest now :)
