If you intend to sleep after watching this video, or suffer from a heart condition, you may want to think twice before pressing play...

In today's episode of Ancient DOS Games, Gemini's taking a look at Hoosier City, an action/adventure made in a similar vein to the original Legend of Zelda by Wetware and published through MVP Software in 1992.

It kinda surprised me at first how barely-known this game is, but it really didn't take a lot of gameplay to figure out why. This game has some curious design decisions on top of a deviously high level of difficulty, minor graphical glitches, and painfully average enemies and items. Zelda this is not. :P

Additional Information and Corrections:

* Here's a link to the MVP Software archives for those who wish to download it: http://www.mvpsoft.com

* One of the bugs I didn't talk about is that the graphics are only redrawn when they have to be, so a lot of things end up overwriting other things graphically, but they DO still exist. So if a powerup seemingly disappears, it's actually still there, it just got graphically deleted by something else. If you walk where it is you'll pick it up. :B

* In terms of the second chapter of the game, it introduces environmental lightning which constantly saps your health while you're outdoors in a particular area, as well as unlinked stairs which can end up sending you places you don't want to go, while the third chapter just has flat-out brutally difficult enemies and high spawn rates, plus wants you to miraculously amass $20,000 before it'll give you any max health potions!
