Never been a huge fan of the original Mauler, since it's one of the things that makes late-game Strife a balance nightmare. It was horribly overpowered against single targets but almost downright useless against smaller groups. I tried to rework its main BFG attack into something that was good (not to weak, not to strong) in both cases, but everything I tried had the same problem. I might return to those ideas I had in the future to see if I can still get them to work.

But for now, I combined the ideas behind its two modes into something that's actually useful in many cases, in short to medium range. Somewhat inspired by Halo 4's Incineration Cannon, since that was a really nice BFG-class shotgun/rocket launcher. I'm actually surprised it's as balanced as it is. A single large target hit by all five blasts takes a good 600~750 damage (a lot, but nowhere near the 2000~3000 Doom's BFG can do), while nearby monsters take around 400~500. I also rigged it up so it throws the secondary projectiles downwards if the projectile hits the ceiling, so it's not useless if you do.

Disclaimer: In the video, I try to kill clumps of Acolytes with the secondary projectiles alone. This is really not a good way use it since it's unreliable and wastes a lot of damage, but it's fun to do trick shots like that. If you think the Crusaders at the end died too easily, blame the fact that they have as much health as they look like they should have. =P
