The most senior British officer serving in Afghanistan says the Afghan National Security Forces will be fully capable of controlling their country's security when combat operations end in the country next year.

Lieutenant General John Lorimer, the Deputy Commander of ISAF, the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan, pointed to the progress the ANSF has already made since taking the lead for security control this summer.
