I was poking through my file folders where I keep all my game playthrough videos and discovered this one....forgot that I had it and had actually done a full playthrough of the game and not just a speed-run video. Originally when I started doing game videos I did what was my best attempt at a speed-run for the game and I uploaded that as my 3rd game playthrough video...and consequently forgot about that I did an actual full run of the game where I tried to collect as many of the Red Gems as I safely could without losing a life. Anyhow...this game is beyond reproach for me as it was a number of "firsts" for me personally. It was the very first movie that I ever owned/watched, the very first video game that I ever got/played and it was also the very first game that I beat by myself as well at the age 6 or 7 I believe. Its well over 20 yrs ago so its hard to remember that exact detail. But most of all its the memories I have of playing this game either by myself or with my dad, since for a while that was "our thing" to do together when I was about 4 or 5. He'd play, then I would try to play and so forth etc. Absolute sacred memories for me since we didn't play a lot of games together in the following years afterwards. Personal fondness and nostalgia aside, I do find the game to be a rock-solid and faithful adaptation of the beloved Disney classic. Great control, excellent music that recreates a lot of the familiar song themes from the movie and a very balanced/fair difficulty level too..which was rare for a lot of Disney games back then (see Lion King and Jungle Book for further evidence....) which made it challenging enough for me that it was tough enough but not so hard that I would rage quit. While the Sega Genesis version is certainly the more famous and vastly more well-known game (and understandably so since it is a stone-cold classic for good reason), I will always prefer this one to it; even though I love that one too! If you don't have this game or never played it, I would HIGHLY recommend that you give this one a try and get a copy if you can find one these days. This was done on an actual cartridge as well.
