Alfred Tries To Play: Oscar (SNES)
0What kind of creature is Oscar meant to be anyway, I have absolutely no idea. But anyway, the character is more an excuse for a film-based pun as this game involves exploring various film sets collecting Oscars (get it now?) which don't look like the Oscars you might be thinking of.
But this game is pretty terrible. The graphics are too busy meaning small enemies, Oscars and powerups which come from the blue discs you collect are easily missed. The music and sound effects are loud and obnoxious and the gameplay is pretty bad with poor level design and loose controls. In addition you need specific powerups to access certain parts of the level and without them you might not finish the level. It's no consolation Oscar always says "Thanks everybody!" when collecting an Oscar, playing this game is truly a thankless ordeal.
So overall, this game doesn't win any Oscars at all and is as big a farce as the most recent Oscars ceremony. So depending on your viewpoint this may be a pretty accurate satire on how bad movies win Oscars.
