I always wondered if this map has a time limit. The map keeps going on about you sealing the vents, but it seems that the threat that lies beyond ain't quite so tough to deal with. Makes me wonder if Payload has a script in mind that just gobsmacks your position with xenos if you take too long. The quiet bit is also not a particularly usable advice, seeing as how pretty much most of your weapons emit a significant amount of noise, be it firearms or the giant powerloader. Okay, I'm carrying a knife, but it's really more my vision infecting the author's. Even then, you don't see me using a knife much against the melee nightmares that are the xenos.
Perhaps the time limit xeno spawns wipe out the survivors instead, not getting you that red key. Though is it really that bad to not acquire the red key? Seems like the only thing there is a turret and some ammo, not quite the armory or storage treasure chest one might seek in these troubled times.
Interestingly, I think it's about this part when I realize that I really don't need that unlimited ammo pistol at all. I had this fear that by removing the thing, I'm making my life an absolute hell, images of me failing over and over again flailing a knife against some boss floating constantly in my mind, but it seems that the maps provide me with just enough ammo to get by. Payload has done a wonderful job balancing the pickups in the maps, even on UV. Saving ammo by using other means like the powerloader or the traps, searching every nook and cranny, scavenge runs after I'm done clearing a map, automap markers so I wouldn't forget important caches, Use to Pickup instead of nabbing everything I walk over, all of it ended up allowing me to conquer pretty much all of the encounters I've met so far. It really does make a difference compared to me just dancing around the enemies with max inventory 'cause the pistol does everything for me.
