Aliens versus Predator 2 Gameplay - Alien Episode 1: Birth
3I went ahead and did it, after thinking about it for a long time. Now I'm uploading Abandonware games too, and the first one will be Aliens versus Predator 2, just for the sake of completing the saga. I recorded this gameplay, as well as I'll record the remaining videos of this game, with the Xbox Game Bar.
Despite being called "Aliens versus Predator 2", this game is at best very loosely connected to Aliens versus Predator Classic 2000. It could have affected that this game wasn't made by Rebellion, but by Monolith and Sierra instead. At least the gameplay tries harder to feel like a sequel to Classic 2000, which presents itself as a nice expansion of all three species' arsenal and makes some major tweaks to the fighting balance. Since the plot this game is much more coherent than any of the other two games, I'll upload the missions in chronological order. The Primal Hunt expansion is actually a prequel to the events of the base game, so I might place the videos of that expansion at the top of the playlist, but I'll need to give it another thought first. Anyway, let's get started.
The first event in the timeline is for the Alien species, being titled "Birth". A larger package than normal was transported off-world from an undisclosed planet to LV-1201, the planet where the game's events take place. A research facility operates on that planet, which is led by Dr. Eisenberg, who seems to have gone through some terrible experiences in the past, as depicted in the opening cinematic. The package is scan-shielded, but after dropping onto the Cargo Ship's floor, it is revealed that contained an Alien Egg, which hatches right after the container got opened by the crash. The creature emerging from it, a Facehugger, is the playable character, and must find a suitable, isolated host before the Humans become aware of the Escaped Alien.
