Today I’m going to show you the very best mods to get the most beautiful graphics and performance for Skyrim Special Edition on Xbox Series X, the goal of this mods collection is to play the game at 60 fps and also greatly improve most of the items and environments of the entire game.

Okay, so, I’m going to tell you all the mods in their installation order: the first mod on this list is the only one that is not an actual graphics mod, but it’s very important that you install it, the Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch (https://bethesda.net/en/mods/skyrim/mod-detail/2947804). This mod fixes most if not all the bugs that Bethesda never bothered to fix, and most importantly, it will be required for many mods you will find on your own, so it’s only convenient to have it already installed. Just make sure that this mod is always the first to load in your mod order.

Next we have Uncap FPS (https://bethesda.net/en/mods/skyrim/mod-detail/4056888), this mod removes the Frames per Second limit of Skyrim Special Edition so that you can play it at 60 FPS.

The third mod is an extra one but it’s a very nice one, its name is “A Quality World Map” (https://bethesda.net/en/mods/skyrim/mod-detail/3268241). We choose the “Vivid With Stone Roads” version and it makes the world map much better and much more clear to look-at than the vanilla version.

Next on our list is “Vanilla Armor Replacer” by NordwarUA (https://bethesda.net/en/mods/skyrim/mod-detail/4143740). I really like the way this mod enhances and improves already existing items while also keeping most of their visual designs.

Alongside “Vanilla Armor Replacer” I like to use “Authentic Legion Replacer” (https://bethesda.net/en/mods/skyrim/mod-detail/4178532) to make the imperial soldiers look like they came straight out of the previous game, Oblivion!

Let’s now take care of the Dragons. In the Vanilla game there are 14 dragons skins, but thanks to the mod “Splendor: Dragon Variants” (https://bethesda.net/en/mods/skyrim/mod-detail/4016032) you will get more than 700 different dragon skins and with almost no cost for you mods memory limit!

With this next mod we will improve most of the buildings of Skyrim. “Tamriel Retextured Architecture” (https://bethesda.net/en/mods/skyrim/mod-detail/4152008) replaces the vanilla textures of most ruins and cities to make them look more believable and lively.

To complete the improvements on the artificial environments we also chose the “Friendly SMIM” (https://bethesda.net/en/mods/skyrim/mod-detail/4163786) mod that makes significantly huge improvements on many items of the world like tables, barrels and ropes.

We now get on to one of the most important mods on this list. With “Cathedral Landscapes V3” (https://bethesda.net/en/mods/skyrim/mod-detail/4134382) most of the natural environment of the game will improve by a long shot. This mod covers grass, roads, snow, ice, and enhances the looks of distant textures.

One of the most prominent parts of Skyrim’s Environment are the mountains, so it is very important to make them look as good as the rest of the game, and for this, we choose the Majestic Mountains (https://bethesda.net/en/mods/skyrim/mod-detail/4029596) mod, that improves all stone textures and how mountains look from the distance.

Next, let’s improve the looks of the water with “Glassy Water 4K” (https://bethesda.net/en/mods/skyrim/mod-detail/4187093). We’ve seen many other people suggest other water mods but this one seemed to be the best choice for more realistic water.

With “Simply Darker – Inferno Fire Effect Light” (https://bethesda.net/en/mods/skyrim/mod-detail/4186667) dungeons and other interiors will look much more believable and immersive.

Wandering at the sky is one of the most memorable moments of Skyrim, that’s why we’re improving it with the “Enhanced Night Skyrim” (https://bethesda.net/en/mods/skyrim/mod-detail/3201305) mod, that alongside the next mod will also increase the immersive experience.

This last graphic mod is the icing on the cake for this mods collection: “Obsidian Weathers and Seasons” (https://bethesda.net/en/mods/skyrim/mod-detail/4046856) improves the game’s lights, atmospheric events and adds an optional season system based on the in-game calendar.

And now it’s time for the surprise awesome mod I promised, be sure to keep it as last in the load order if you install it. “Open Cities Skyrim” (https://bethesda.net/en/mods/skyrim/mod-detail/2918240) allows you to enter and exit cities without any loadings!
