Whispers of a Machine is described as a Sci-Fi Nordic noir that tells the story of a cybernetically augmented detective in a post-AI world........... RIGHT?!

To be honest, I hadn't heard of this until it was on sale and recommended to me on GOG. I picked it up not knowing what to expect or whether I'd make a video on it.

LOVED IT.

While it has some gameplay mechanics similar to other point & click adventure games, the ability to clearly locate interactable objects, as well as the voice acting and augmentations really set this one apart.

As with all the games in this Cyberpunk 2077 Alternatives series, it features a cyberpunk setting and gameplay elements! Need to open a locked door? No problem, use a strength boost to rip off the door. Worried someone is lying to you? Activate your lie detector and actively watch for lies. Its has an excellent balance of the gameplay realities of point & click (relatively passive gameplay), with more active tasks such as monitoring and appropriately reacting to lies told to you.

Cyberpunk 2077 is undoubtedly exciting for anyone remotely interested in cyberpunk. However, for those of us on a budget, or those of us who are simply looking for more good cyberpunk games (because there are many, many bad ones out there), we're looking at some #Cyberpunk2077 alternatives!

With three different approaches to take to the game (empathetic, analytical, assertive), and different associated augmentations, Whispers of a Machine has real value for those of us gaming on a budget!
