Amazon Sent Us An EMPTY PACKAGE?!? How We Resolved This Issue
39Black Friday 2024 has come and gone, and we didn't buy a whole lot of things. But, we did take advantage of a $20 physical Nintendo Switch Game for my youngest daughter to play on her Nintendo Switch Lite. In addition to the game, I also ordered 2 spools of 3D Printer Filament. Well, the box and packaging arrived, and we did get our 2 spools of PETG from Comgrow, but what was missing was our Nintendo Switch Game! So, somehow, Amazon sent us an empty package? How did we get this issue fixed and resolved?
First of all, one of the things about Amazon is that they know stuff like this happens. Upon discovering a missing item in an opened package, contact Amazon IMMEDIATELY! Time is important here as you need to make contact as soon as you discover an issue with your order. This can be done via phone, email, or online chat. You'll need to provide details about the order, such as the order number, the missing item, and any relevant information about the package condition.
Before you contact Amazon, do yourself a favor and take photos with your phone. Amazon didn't request images in my instance, but I am glad I had them just in case. Amazon's customer service representatives are trained to handle such situations efficiently. They will verify your information and either initiate a replacement order for the missing item or a refund for the item. In most cases, the replacement will be shipped promptly, often within a few days.
I had 2 different experiences depending on whether I talked to a live person or used the automated system. The AI just offered to send a replacement, but it also indicated that I needed to send the original back to Amazon. I didn't have the original, since it didn't arrive in the empty package, so I went on to talk to an agent. They offered me a refund, which I didn't want, I just wanted the game. They offered to apply a credit on the account if the price wasn't the same as what I got on Black Friday, so we'll see how this goes down.
