A new specialist centre for amphibious warfare is to be officially opened in Plymouth. The Royal Marines' landing craft training squadron is the latest to join Royal Navy colleagues at the new 30 million pound centre in Devonport Dockyard. The MOD says with land-based operations in Afghanistan winding down, the new centre would help the marines focus once again on their more traditional role - operating ship to shore.
