An Early Gold/Silver Save Editor - PokeEdit 1.0
PokeEdit 1.0, programmed by Teruki Murakawa, is a somewhat rudimentary save editor designed to work with Pokémon Gold and Silver versions. Programmed in 2000, it was used to assist in the localisation process of the Western releases. The program was found amongst some assets for the Korean localisation process, but was not in working order.
The editor was still very much work in progress by Version 1.0, as can be seen by some non-functional features and snippets of code in the source being visibly incomplete, such as nicknaming Pokémon and manually adjusting stats. However, it is still able to perform its duties as a save editor on international Gold and Silver save files just fine. It also has several features found in more contemporary editors, such as automatically setting moves based on a Pokémon's level.
Some interesting things can be found within the source of the program, such as cut abilities to name the player's mother (which was already known), but also abilities to name Red and Blue (which I'm not sure was known). Given that Gold and Silver are direct sequels to Red, Green and Blue versions, it makes some sense that Game Freak could've planned to have consistency by allowing you to name the previous character's names.
Also, the source specifies all the types, along with names, including Curse's ???-Type, and is referred to as "HATE_TYPE". Not too sure if this is also already known, but I'm sure it's interesting to someone.
