An Open World Trippy Take on Morrowind? – Dread Delusion 1.0 – #01
Dread Delusion is an Open World, First Person, Exploration focused, Retro Action RPG that feels like a super trippy take on Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.

Like An Even Weirder Morrowind?
Dread Delusion has the exploration focus and combat of old, still great Morrowind.
Think the steampunk / arcane punk of the dwemer ruins and constructs, combined with some sort of super creepy, even more spindly, spider like machines, with limbs that don’t look like they should be able to support the weight of their owner; yet they do.
The organic creatures are also weird, weirder than anything you’ll see in Morrowind, and Morrowind is the weirdest of the Elder Scrolls games.
Anyway, did you like Morrowind? You’ll likely like Dread Delusion too.
Dread Delusion The RPG:
Like Morrowind, Dread Delusion has character creation right at the start; letting you shape the kind of character you want to play.
You have 4 childhood backgrounds to pick, boosting either +2 Might, +2 Guile, +2 Wisdom, or +2 Persona.
Then, another choice of 4: +20 Attack, +20 Lockpick, +20 Lore, or +20 Charm
Finally, a choice of 4 more: +20 Defense, +20 Agility: speed and jump height +20 Spellcraft, +20 Barter.
You can mix and match with these 3 picks of 4 if you like, making a more well rounded character if you wish, or you can focus right down on the fighter, rogue, or charm path; your choice.
Unlike Morrowind, where you to lvl up from direct skill usage or paying for trainers, in Dread Delusion, you lvl up when you have found enough Delusion, a weird skull thing you use to become more powerful.
This adds a real weight to the exploration here, as you gain no exp for killing monsters: you only get past them, and get their drops.
Controller Support is present, as is good old mouse and keyboard.
I went with mouse and keyboard in the above video, as it just felt much better to me in a first person RPG.
Note: This is the post 1.0 Launch with a new starting region, new underworld dungeon, airship flying, new items, spells, and equipment.
If the idea of an Open World RPG with a super trippy take on Morrowind interests you, you’ll likely like Dread Delusion too; I do.
