24Lifeforms Binary Fission is an Indie, Arcade, sort of Survivors like, but here, not all the monsters want only you, and make a bee line towards you.
Instead, they roam around their environment, looking for food to eat, same as you.
Maybe they eat you, maybe you eat them; we’ll see!
A Sort of Survivors like + Spore!
Lifeforms Binary Fission has the pick 1 of 3 upgrades when you lvl up, but you don’t lvl up here by vacuuming up exp orbs, you eat them, lvling up slowly while your belly is full!
And it’s only the right bits you can eat, like simple white sugars at the start, until you evolve a bit to be able to handle carbs or proteins.
This greatly affects your behavior, as you only want to target an area or creatures who have the sugar your little creature craves; not the currently indigestible lipids, proteins, or carbs that are also floating around.
Also, when you lvl, you don’t just get stronger, you also split; that’s where the Binary Fission comes in.
This grows your species, which helps you, because your little bug babies are friendly with you, and if you die, you take over for one of them!
Meta Progression added:
Added to the game after I last showed the demo, you can now unlock additional options in-between runs using Fission points.
There are abilities you can turn on / off on before the run which then go into the pool of lvl-ups you can choose; you must have at least 4.
You can unlock Morphologies you can select at the start of each run, that change your starting “class”, these have a positive change, like more hp and more energy storage, like the Blob, but less speed and health reg.
You can also select mutations you can enable to appear as upgrades in a run: you must have 8 to start.
Note: This is an early look at Lifeforms Binary Fission so any bugs or other oddness is not representative of the final product.
Still, Lifeforms Binary Fission is a fun and interesting Arcade take on the Survivors like genre, and is easily well worth a wishlist and a watch.
