Time to get cracking on this map, but a few things to go over first.

One...I did say we were going into some banger music and boy is this song good! This one comes from a retro sega genesis game I loved as a kid, Gauntlet IV. This song played during the fire tower stage of the game's quest mode.

Two...support ranks build up Path of Radiance style where support pairings merely need to be fielded in a chapter to build up.

So, how does one start out with this map? There's four green units around that, when talked to, grant 50 exp to the one that initiates the convo, regardless of the person's level. If you wanted to get Samuel some easy levels early on, this is a great way to do so. Me? I need the person coming in later to lay claim to ALL of them, meaning I need to clear a bunch of the starting enemies out because they can and will kill any of the green units if possible.

Thanks to some clever use of Angelus, Samuel can rescue the one civilian furthest to the north while everyone else wipes every enemy within range of the other green units.

Next...Baudimon needs to go west along with Colter and Lilinette. I intend to A rank support Thea with Colter so she goes west too. I need Baudimon in the northwest corner of the map for something that happens on turn 6.

As for Jakka, he and everyone else start going north while being mindful to kill any enemies if the green units wander into their range. That's because as turn 2 starts, a group of reinforcements arrive near the village and two of them want to defect from their clan. Jakka can talk to the girl and she'll join along with her cousin.

These two fighter class units are Bjarki (the guy with a killer beard) and Berit. The former has all of five speed and a low 25% growth to go with it, but he's not there to double everything. He's there to deliver one heavy blow and have the hp to soak the incoming attack.

As for Berit, she has lower bases, but higher offensive potential. Low defenses and low growths for both means she can't be too aggressive or she's gonna get overwhelmed quickly.

Bjarki's skill is Sturdy (+4 damage and defense when being attacked) while Berit's is Death Blow (+20% crit if she initiates combat).

You could have people up here to wipe the reinforcements out, but the viking duo can handle it just fine. Do grab the northeastern village though for 5k gold.

As for Baud's group going west, there's a female Shaman with a stealable Holy Water, a 3 use item that raises the user's res by 7, decaying 1 point each turn after. More importantly, someone comes screaming out of the southwestern village on turn 2 and will make a beeline toward Baudimon.

This girl is known as Runa and is literally a female version of Ronan from Thracia 776. Blue hair, growths that heavily favor magic based stats, the usual. Her skill...well, she's gotta go fast, hence why Sprinter increases her movement by 2.

Baud's group also has two villages and a house to visit during this. Runa can visit her own village for a Hunting Bow, a weapon effective against beasts, the middle village has a Steel Blade, and the house next to it has an Antitoxin. Hold on to this since it'll be needed in chapter 4.

Things are rather uneventful until turn 4 starts. Fred arrives!

Fred's another potential early promotion I'm interested in to deal with some upcoming major threats in the future. Solid bases and a...peculiar set of growths.

Fred's skill is Perfectionist, granting him 15% hit and avoid if he's at full hp.

As turn 6 begins, a green unit appears in the northwest, a relative of Baud's by the name of Cassandra. She leaves on turn 9, but if Baud can talk to her before then, she'll hand him 50 exp & a Silver Sword. This is also the secret lunatic objective for this chapter alongside finishing it in under 25 turns.

Also coming in hot on turn 6 is the chapter's secret event. Sigmar the Fighter joins in with a group of reinforcements. Claims he's an alpha male he says, but Samuel & Jakka disagree and promptly own his behind for a Goddess Icon.

On turn 8, the actual boss of the chapter shows up in the northern central part of the map, Trym. Berserker + Devil Axe means he's killing damn near everyone if his attack goes critical.

Oh, and add 50 points to his crit rate courtesy of his Wrath skill if he dips below 50% hp. Too bad Axereaver Fred + Dark Hymn + attacking in a forest = Big fat 0% hit rate for Trym.

Killing Trym ends the map so make sure everything else you want to do is dealt with.

Everyone exchanges the usual plesantries, then it's decided to cut through the Centaur Forest to make it into Timaet territory much easier.

More next time!
