Anto RetroGamer Quick Plays: Road Rash (SEGA Master System) ✔
Anto RetroGamer Quick Plays: Road Rash. SEGA Master System version. Essentially a scaled-down port of the SEGA Mega Drive (Genesis) original, Road Rash on the Master System was developed by Probe Entertainment, and published by U.S Gold for PAL regions (1994). This very version was also ported over to the SEGA Game Gear released at the same time.

Road Rash on the SEGA Master System is a simplified, but nonetheless impressive looking game, given the limitations of the 8-bit hardware. Road Rash (SMS) is notably slower then it's 16-bit counterpart, with combat a less important element of the franchise. It is arguably a much easier game to pick and play. The lack of oncoming cars and police bikes is notable in that regard. The familiar character screens are here before each race, and look quite good in comparison to it's Mega Drive brother.
Road Rash II would never make it to the Master System. Despite rumours of a Game Gear version in production, it would never get released, which ended any console release beyond the Mega Drive. The likely reason is due to the late lifespan of both the Game Gear and Master System. Despite a likely release sometime in 1995, hardly any Master System games were being made by then.
