Streets of Rage 2 Intro Theme (SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis) ✔
Anto RetroGamer Presents: the opening cinematic, title screen and intro theme to Streets of Rage 2, for the SEGA Mega Drive (Genesis). Developed and released by SEGA in 1992 for Japan (as Bare Knuckle 2) and worldwide the following year, Streets of Rage 2 was the much anticipated sequel to the original classic in the series. It is also widely accepted as the best game of the original trilogy. Streets of Rage 2 would also get ports for the SEGA Game Gear and SEGA Master System, as was common for many classic games of the era.

Streets of Rage 2 is mainly a re-telling of the original, despite being a sequel. Many of the stages will be familiar to fans of it's predecessor, but with a slightly different story. Mr X returns and captures Adam from the original. Replacing him are two new characters: little-brother Eddie 'Skate' Hunter, and Max Thunder (no really...). The end result is essentially the same. Defeat Mr X and restore peace for the solitary good ending. Despite all this, Streets of Rage 2 boast a number of improvements to the overall experience...
Introduced in Streets of Rage 2 are life bars for individual enemies (plus names!), as well as copious use of mini-bosses. The Police Car special attack from the original is gone, replaced by a special attack for each character at the cost of some life energy. A wider range and number of enemies can appear one one screen for more varied gameplay. Finally, each character has a more refined stats page at the select screen. New characters Max Thunder is a slow but powerful beast, while 'Skate' is agile but more vulnerable to taking damage.
Streets of Rage 2 on the Mega Drive is a widely known SEGA classic that has seen a number of re-releases. It would be made available on PlayStation Network, the 3DS, and eShop, as well as countless appearances on SEGA Ages collections. Streets of Rage 2 would see yet another appearance in 2019, on the SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis Mini.
