This is a game which should need no introduction, Jordan Mechner's Karateka on its original platform, the Apple II. Karateka was notable for its motion capture rotoscoped character animation and innovative use of the Apple Speaker to give musical themes for characters and situations. This game, like the others previously demonstrated, is best played with a joystick.

The hardware and capture setup is described in the Choplifter video. Most Apple II games, including this one, use the high resolution graphics mode of 280x192 pixels which can display 6 colors on a composite color monitor. Those six colors are black, white, blue, orange, green and purple. The Dazzle DVC-100 capture card has the tendency to blend colors vertically. The ground outside the castle here is shown as a gray color, but other displays and capture cards may show it as alternating purple and blue horizontal lines or a checkerboard pattern of black and white dots.
