This level is one of the most punishing things I have ever played. The entire game has the "kill everything before they get a chance to hit you" philosophy, but this level is way way worse about it. For most of these waves, if my spacing and timing isn't perfect, a rat will escape and jab me for over half of my health. Near the end of the stage (after the 3 Mace Gruntys), there is a wave with SWAT Rats and a Gonnad. In one attempt of this stage, I missed the first boot on the SWAT Rat. I lost 3 lives as a result.

I did really well in this attempt. For some reason, the large rats (General Vermin) were behaving strangely and grabbing me during my attacks and just plain not getting hit by attacks. I lost a chunk of health from the last General Vermin simply not getting hit by my aerial, despite having gotten hit by it multiple times before from the same position. This is very atypical. Without those hits, I think I would've made it to Blag at full health, which is astonishing for max difficulty.

There were a few weird instances in this (e.g. picking up a box instead of the stick during one wave), but it is mostly really strong. I am really happy with the grouping strats and weapon usage I came up with for this stage. There are only a few really dangerous parts (besides everywhere if I mess up), but it should be ok. I do want to find a better strat for the pink frazzles at ~5:06. I am not happy with my current strat for them.

A quick note on Big Blag. The strategy here is to plane shift and hit with the aerial smash attack. You can't hit him too quickly or else he does an undodgeable counterattack. The spacing is ridiculously tight. I still don't really know what causes it to be a smash attack vs a normal punch, but I just know the spacing to get it to be a smash. During his second cycle, I got a bit flustered because the smash attack didn't knock him away, so I was trying to retreat + plane shift and messed up the spacing. It's as simple as that. Lives go down the drain super quickly on this difficulty.
