This stage is really intimidating until you memorize all the waves and learn where to position yourself to be safe. There really isn't much more to it than that.

This savestate starts with 1 spare life instead of 2. This is just assuming I'll die at some point during the run. I didn't want to "need" 2 spare lives for this stage, so I routed under the assumption I'll only have one. In theory, I don't even need that spare, but I like to have it for the red orb wave.

Since powerups are completely fixed, there isn't much to say about the route here. The only thing is "special attack" management. You can force more specials to drop if you hit the ratcopters early, and some are fixed drops in certain waves. I think in total, I collect 5 extra specials (fireball wave, red orb wave, 2x ratcopter), and I start with 2 at the beginning. I use one special on the dual blue missile launchers, just because I can't fight them safely otherwise (and it saves a lot of time), and I use one of the two blue orb waves. I could use it a wave or two early there I think, but I play it super safe. This leaves me with....4? I use every other special I have on the red orb wave once I get into trouble. I can generally hold them off with the 3-way once I collect that, and then I start spamming specials once the laser gun appears. After the red orb wave, there's another ratcopter so I can grab another special for Robo-Manus.

Robo-Manus takes over 4 minutes to kill. This is an insanely long fight. He has 6 phases:

1. Appears on the side launching missiles, retreats to launch fireballs every few appearances.
2. Appears on the side launching missiles, never retreats, flamethrowers close in from the side. I use my last special here to clear those out.
3. Appears on the side launching missiles, retreats to throw 3 orbs. If I have a spare life, I will suicide here to refresh my specials. They speed up this phase significantly because I can clear the orbs faster and safely.
4. Fights from the bottom now, only his hands are vulnerable. He fires energy balls in the pattern "left, right, left, right, left, left, both, right, right, both". I almost always kill him after the LRLR of the second cycle.
5. Slowly moves left to right, fires groups of 3 energy balls. Always vulnerable.
6. Same as phase 5, but moves faster. Once the "1% shield remaining" message disappears, he is dead. I just focus on dodging at this point.

Overall, this stage is actually pretty easy. If I come here with a spare life, it is really simple. I can almost always take that life to the red orb phase, and if I feel like it, I can just use up all my specials there and then suicide to refresh them. Then I'd have 3 specials for Robo-Manus. The tricky part will just be making it here with a spare life!
