beatmania IIDX substream CLUB VERSION 2 (c) 1999 Konami.
The collaboration between beatmania IIDX(IIDX for short) and Dance Dance Revolution(DDR for short). Up to 2 players wanted to play this version. With a DJ(IIDX) and a dancer(DDR), it looks more like just players and galleries are in the dance floor, not just an arcade center.

This collaboration looks similar with Session Play between GuitarFreaks and drummania. Players can share gauges, also share songs.
With this mode, DDR players can play songs of IIDX substream. When the stage is started, songs will come from IIDX in real time; when DJ misses, dancer will hear that. When DJ doesn't playing correctly like doesn't press the button, dancers can't hear the music correctly.
By the time this version was released, IIDX was not as popular as developers or programmers of IIDX had expected. They designed this CLUB VERSION to get some focus on IIDX.
DDR 2nd MIX, actually 2nd MIX LINK VERSION, by the time this collaboration was started, had a great success so that much players played. So, this collabotarion was actually for IIDX to get more attention. Later, in DDR Extreme, there are some songs from this collaboration; 20,november, LUV TO ME(disco mix), Ska a GO GO, and other songs. However, in recent, only a few songs can be played.
When Session is available, players can see "READY TO CONNECT DDR", or "SESSION PLAY WITH IIDX IS AVAILABLE" messages in attract mode of each games.

beatmania IIDX와 댄스 댄스 레볼루션 사이의 콜라보레이션. 대상은 beatmania IIDX(이하 IIDX)쪽은 서브스트림, 댄스 댄스 레볼루션(이하 DDR)은 2nd MIX 링크 버전. 이 기획의 의도는 당시 인기가 지지부진했던 IIDX의 인기를 높이기 위한 것에서 비롯되었다. 당시 DDR은 2nd MIX가 최고의 인기를 끌고 있었기 때문에, DDR측의 인기를 받기 위한 기획인 셈. IIDX 초대작과 DDR 2nd MIX 링크 버전 사이의 콜라보인 CLUB VERSION이 있지만, 세션이 제한적이라는 단점이 있었다. 이를 보완한 것.
이 기능을 사용하면 DDR 측에서는 IIDX의 곡들을 플레이할 수 있다. IIDX 쪽에서는 그렇게 큰 메리트는 없는 편.
이 기획은 오직 IIDX 초대작과 서브스트림, 그리고 DDR 2nd MIX과 2nd MIX 링크 버전 사이에서만 이루어졌다. 이후 버전들에서는 바로 폐지된 기획.
- 이야깃거리 -
2020년대 현행의 BEMANI 작품들을 통틀어 이 기획과 가장 유사한 것을 찾으라고 한다면, 물론 기타도라의 세션이 있다. 드러머(드럼매니아)와 기타리스트(기타프릭스) 사이의 합주를 세션으로 구현한 것. 수록곡도 공유하고 세션 전용 콤보 게이지도 있으며, 사운드도 공유된다.
링크 플레이를 하지 않으면 서로 일반적인 서브스트림과 2nd MIX 링크 버전으로 플레이하게 된다. 링크 플레이를 걸면 DDR은 어떤 모드를 선택했던 상관없이, IIDX의 수록곡만 플레이할 수 있다. DDR의 수록곡은 플레이 불가능.
"클럽 DJ(IIDX)의 음악에 맞추어 댄서(DDR)가 춤을 춘다"의 기획이므로, 곡을 고르는 것은 DDR이나 IIDX 양쪽에서 할 수 있다. 단, 고른 곡을 선택하는 것은 IIDX쪽에서만 가능. 때문에 IIDX에서 플레이하는 음악이 그대로 DDR로 전달된다. IIDX에서 미스가 나와서 키음이 순간 사라지거나 뭉개지면 그대로 DDR 쪽에서 그렇게 들을 수 있는 것.
게이지는 서바이벌 게이지로, 서로 공유한다. 어느 한 쪽의 게이지가 다 떨어져도 다른 쪽이 살아 있다면, 플레이를 계속할 수 있다. 나쁘게 말하면, DDR쪽 플레이어가 플레이를 던져도, IIDX쪽 플레이어가 계속 플레이를 하고 있다면, 스테이지는 계속 진행되는 것. 물론 다른 쪽이 미스 한 번이라도 나오는 순간 바로 셔터가 닫힌다.
이 기획을 이용해 플레이할 수 있었던 곡들은 이후 DDR 익스트림에서 일부 플레이할 수 있다. 대표적인 곡들이 20,november, Ska a Go Go, LUV TO ME(disco mix), GENOM SCREAMS.
그러나 수록되지 않은 그 외의 곡들은 이 기획이 아니면 DDR 쪽에서는 플레이할 수가 없다. 이식이 아예 이루어지지 않았기 때문. 2020년대 현재에는 e-motion과 GENOM SCREAMS만 플레이 가능. 굳이 플레이를 하겠다면 플레이스테이션으로 나온 가정용 DDR을 구해야만 한다.

1대의 컴퓨터에서 2개의 게임을 동시에 가동하는 시연 영상입니다. IIDX 쪽에서는 DJ AUTO가 수고해주셨습니다. 동시에 가동하기 위해서는 배치 파일을 만들어야 합니다.
