One step away from its launch, we finally had the opportunity to try Armored Core VI. We were expecting a revolutionary game, but we were pleasantly surprised that Masaru Yamamura's new title doesn't stray too far from its roots, as one might think. As true longtime fans of the series, we appreciated this closeness to the previous episodes. But enough chitchat, follow us as we tell you what convinced us and what left us with some doubts.

The protagonist of Armored Core VI is 621, a genetically enhanced and modified human possessing incredible combat abilities. However, this enhancement comes at a cost: it has made 621 unstable and emotionless, and it's up to the player to decide how this will influence the story.

Although the concept of the protagonist is not new in the series, in Armored Core VI, it plays a particularly central role as 621's supervisor, Walter, simply considers him a tool. Consequently, he sends him to the planet Rubicon without many scruples.

Rubicon is anything but an ordinary planet: it has been the site of a galactic-scale disaster due to an unstable energy source called Coral, powerful enough to propel humanity to a new level of technological evolution. It's evident that Walter's plan is to obtain Coral and then sell it to the highest bidder.

However, Rubicon's territory is controlled by powerful mega-corporations, who are also searching for this mysterious element. To make matters worse, both 621 and Walter arrive on the planet assuming different identities.

This scenario is not far from the old chapters of the series, but in Armored Core VI
