More than 6 thousand troops deploy every year to Kenya on Exercise Askari Thunder. But as well as taking advantage of the training on offer, soldiers are encouraged to get stuck in and meet the local community.

For the 2nd Battalion The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment it's meant helping out at a local orphanage, but for the Military Stabilisation Support Group or MSSG it's a constant job to find out who needs support the most.

In the fifth of her reports from Africa Ali Gibson has been to see how soldiers are giving something back.
