0:00 Title Screen
Unlike me, don't turn up any of the graphics settings. I think setting them on increases the chances of the game crashing.
3:04 Loredump
Apparently, some guy named Grindelwald Maultor corrupted a tribe of immortal humanoids, the First Men, into his personal warlords, the Gauf. He then had them enslave humanity and enact genocide against other races in order to expand his Validian Empire. However, one of the Validian Generals, Arthur Greyhem, turned on Maultor and led the empire's enemies to victory.
6:19 Assassinating Bertram Rosenberg
Your first playable characters are Pots, a novice thief, and Atrius, a highly experienced assassin. Given that Atrius is about level 22 and Pots is level 1, it's obvious Atrius is a guest character.
The target in question stole from his business partner, and now we have to both kill Rosenberg and get the goods back. In this section, you can fight the guards, but doing so is both a drain in resources and will cost you a rare item.
This game is based on a D&D campaign, and the developers really like dice rolls. You'll have to roll to pick locks and disarm traps. The saving grace is that your lockpicking and disarming skills will increase the more you use them, allowing you more leeway in the dice rolls.
Regardless of how well you did in stealth, you'll eventually find the treasure and kill Rosenberg, who can't even fight.
13:51 Orgard
If you succeeded in the stealth portion, you'll get a swordbreaker weapon. This seems no better than your current gear at first, but it's immune to the item reset event in the next video, which means it can make things slightly easier.
The guide recommends not picking up certain hidden items, due to a later item reset event taking away your gear and consumables. However, special items and crafting items like Celestium Shard are fair game. Was Astoria's developer part of their D&D team or something?
When the duo go to the pub, you have to talk to the piano to open the path to the guild. Atrius's sister, Elaenia, will chastise Pots for missing his nameday dinner.
In the Thieves' Guild, you can rest for free at the inn, which is good because you should also disarm the traps for disarming mastery.
You have to go up to Elaenia's room to apologize, though she calls Pots out for letting his parent issues cloud his judgment. You can take a Celestium Shard from one of the objects in the room.
Atrius gives us our next mission: to help the royal family of Amanor take out the Vathen Crime Family. They're involved in the fall of Atrius's house, so Atrius has a personal stake in this battle.
36:55 Amanor Mountain Pass
You don't have the means to mine the ores here yet, but you can grab a Celestium Shard and some other goodies. Save before talking to Atrius, since you'll be attacked by a boss soon enough.
41:15 Boss: Elsaurus
This boss can easily oneshot Pots, but not Atrius. Honestly, I feel like Pots's presence is redundant for this fight. The boss only gives a little bit of EXP, so it's not really worth reviving Pots if he dies. IMO, they should have tuned the boss so that Pots takes heavy, but not fatal damage. This would have been a good way to teach the defend command while having Atrius continue to do the heavy lifting.
You can steal an Ancient Sword, but it'll be lost in the item reset event that's coming up after the next boss, so don't worry too much if you fail to get it.
If you want, you can take advantage of Atrius rejoining the party to grind a bit.
