Astro Flame: Starfighter places you in the seat of an amazing gunship that can rapid fire lasers and hurl missiles at enemies (when you have them in your inventory). At the end of each level is a boss fight that tests your quick reflexes and maneuvering skills, and is challenging but not unfairly tough. There are 15 levels in total for you to progress through that get increasingly difficult. In each level, you can secure green orbs that are basically “Space Bucks”, and use these to upgrade your ship and its weapon systems to really take the fight to the enemy.

While this doesn’t change much regarding the top-down space-shooter type of games, that’s definitely not a bad thing. Its beautiful upgrade and quick, responsive controls make this game tremendously enjoyable and worth playing through numerous times. For fans of classic arcade titles in this genre, Astro Flame: Starfighter is a worthy entry to pick up and play.
