Atari 8-Bit Game Play, Atari Rogue
6In which I play "Atari Rogue", a type-in from Antic Magazine written by Robert Jung and published in 1987. This is a surprising amount of fun. It's a shame I never knew about this back in the day, but I had sold my Atari 600XL by the time this came out, so I didn't really have a good way to know about it. Sad.
I think the game design choices that Mr. Jung made here are good and solid. It's relatively simple, but it seems like a nice balance of luck and skill - in the Rogue-like tradition - and is quite engaging. I can see myself coming back to this one for sure!
