Atomic Heart | Full Game Walkthrough | No Commentary
The year has just begun, but our next anticipated title has been released in the form of Atomic Heart! This game was on my radar ever since I laid eyes upon it during the first reveal trailer. It reminded me of a mix between Bioshock, Half-Life 2 and Wolfenstein. It showcased an alternate take on history and we were fighting all these awesomely designed robots. Now it has been delayed for many years, but we finally have it.
The end result is a mixed bag with some things I absolutely loved and some others not so much. The biggest positive thing about the game is it's amazing world building and setting. From the moment you start the game, you are in awe from how gorgeous and detailed everything looks. Many of the environments feel lived in and that beginning definitely gave me flashbacks to Bioshock Infinite: one of my favorite games of all time.
The robots you come and face are all very original and great to behold. It sticks that old 50's feel and I could never wait for what enemy type would come next.
However, though the world and setting is amazing, the story and writing is underwhelming. The main character is really unlikeable and the story itself is something you have seen quite a lot of times before. You can see the twist coming many hours before it is revealed.
The game was also buggy and crashed multiple times and even had bugs like invincible enemies or text on screen that would not disappear.
Nevertheless, I would definitely be down for more adventures within this setting, though next time I hope with some better characters and story.
