Backlog Resolution: Septerra Core Part 21
Continuing on her journey to the core to reveal the Creator's legacy, Maya and her allies come face to face with a very different monster than the one they're chasing. At the center of their world, the trio must put an end to a battle the Underlost waged long ago.
Brian "BMAN" Babendererde, lead designer of Septerra Core, wrote a multipart retrospective on the creation of the game for it's 20th anniversary in 2019. You can read it starting at https://twilighttangents.com/septerracore-legacy-of-the-game-part-01/
Septerra Core: Legacy of the Creator is a console style role playing game released in 1999 by Valkyrie Studios and Monolith Productions. Developed in the late 90s and likely inspired by games like Chrono Trigger and the Final Fantasy series, the game tells the story of Maya as she works with her allies to save the clockwork world of Septerra. With game systems that will be second nature for many JRPG fans and the option for full mouse control, Septerra Core brought the experience of console RPGs to the PC at a time when that wasn't so common as it is today. It might not be an all-time great, but it's certainly interesting and worth a look.
