Late Game in Sekiro Shadows Die Twice there is a loop you can run to fairly reliably farm Fulminated Mercury and Adamantite scraps.

This can be completed once Ashina Castle is under seige. Head out of Ashina Castle across the now-existing bridge to the Ashina Outskirts. This route goes past where Blackhat's store was, down through the back gate, and then back to where the original Ogre fight was.

Grab the Stairway Idol again.
Equip your Homeward Idol.
Follow the backstab route seen here.
The long route yields the Adamantite Scrap on good runs.
