Previously, Kesevar the Fair was deemed innocent by the judgement of Shadow and his beloved Saerileth after killing a Child of Bhaal, the Shadow Thieves were purged from Athkatla for the time being, and Bodhi had finally been slain with Imoen's soul still intact, however Saerileth had been cursed with undeath. Shadow, through their love and faith, returned her to normal and later proposed to her to be his wife. She accepted, but the task to save the elves from irenicus was still on the table, more so revenge and the recovery of Shadow's soul.
